Your Personality Profile is revealed by the imprints of the planets in your NATAL Chart. The NATAL REPORT is a projection of “Personality Potential” and can be compared to a “Blueprint” of a building that is being planned for construction. At different stages of development while the building is being built, certain additions, deletions and/or other changes may become desirable (or even necessary) and the original blueprint may be modified to accommodate those changes. And so it is with your personality as indicated by your NATAL Chart. During the “building” of your life, your personality is being developed, and the imprints of the personality blueprint are being modified and/or changed, both by your own choices and by circumstances beyond your control.

The progression of the planets as they continue their respective orbits into different signs and houses, and the aspects they form, are beyond our control. But we DO have some control over how we handle these new influences, and how we let them affect our personality. In order to deal with these influences, it certainly would help for us to know WHAT these influences are, and WHEN we will have to deal with them. The PROGRESSED REPORT provides that information: the WHAT, the WHEN, and (in some reports) the HOW.

Now, for the first time, we have a Progressed Report that not only tells us WHAT, WHEN, and HOW–it also tells us HOW LONG! It locates the signs, the aspects, and the house positions for each of the planets for any given year of your life and tells you how long they will remain in those positions. With each of the interpretations for these progressed planetary positions, we include a brief synopsis of the influences and imprints of its position in your Natal Chart for your comparison.

Many techniques for following the development of man from birth through life have been devised and studied by Astrologers since about the second or third century BC. The technique used in this Report is called “Secondary Progressions”. This system uses the “Day for a Year” process which appears to have been practiced since Ptolemy and Copernicus, and was supported by the German mathematician Johannes Kepler (1571-1630). The system is implemented by choosing a specific birthday. We then count a day for each year of your life, and cast a chart for the “progressed birthday”.

The Progressed chart is the first chart used in Predictive Astrology, for it provides a good preview and overview of what you can expect in the coming year. We feel that the Progressed chart provides the first step toward using Astrology for a better and more fully informed way of living life — AS IT UNFOLDS.

When combined with information obtained from a “FORECAST REPORT”, OR “TRANSIT REPORT”, which interprets the aspects of the transiting planets (where the planets actually WILL be at any given time), we can get an extremely comprehensive body of predictive information for any “progressed year”–and beyond. Check with your personal Astrologer for information concerning these Reports.

Like the Sun-sign, progressing the chart will change the sign on the cusp of the first house, your Ascendant. It will also bring influences of the new sign into play upon the personality in changing, modifying, and “blending” experiences. Each time a new sign “rises” on the first house, you may feel a little disoriented, especially during the first year or two. This is because different methods, or “styles” of operating in interpersonal and business transactions can vary considerably under the influence of different Rising signs. Since the Ascendant represents the face (the “Mask”) we show the world, others may begin to see us in a different light before we become aware of any changes in ourselves. Unlike the Sun’s thirty-year cycle, the change cycles of the Ascendant may not be as predictable as the Sun, since the houses may have more, or less, than thirty degrees. Casting the chart for the place of residence instead of the birthplace can also affect the degree of the Ascendant. The exact time of changes from the birth chart Ascendant and from the progressed Rising-signs can be difficult to trace when changes of residence are extreme. The Rising sign in the Progressed chart determines the signs on the houses, just as it does in the Natal chart. Each time the Ascendant changes, the sign on the cusps of the other eleven houses may change, also. The interpretations of the signs on the houses will give some clues regarding the affairs of each house during the year for which the Progressed chart is cast. These signs on the cusps may not change very much from year to year unless you move your place of residence a significant distance from one geographic location to another.

Progressed Ascendant in Libra and natal Ascendant in Virgo

PROGRESSED LIBRA RISING WITH NATAL ASCENDANT IN VIRGO–People who have Virgo rising at the time of their birth are masters of detail, objectivity, and analysis. They are practical in their intellectual activities and pursuits and enjoy research and the collection of data. They need neatness and order in their environment and have difficulty functioning unless everything is in its place. You are probably very good at handling the routine kind of jobs that others want to avoid, especially if it involves ferreting out facts. You are a master at making lists and you love catalogs. Others see you as modest, unobtrusive, and often rather quiet or shy. You are a person who is content to be in the background or to serve as an assistant, in the supporting role rather than in the lead. You are quite humble in your own assessment of yourself. No matter how well you do something, you always see the flaws in it and how it could be improved. Often you will simply refuse to attempt something because you feel you cannot meet your own high standards. You probably appear super-organized and orderly to others. Others see you as super “picky” because of your neat and orderly mind. You are not much given to pampering or coddling. You are not uncaring, but you need to be aware that your cool approach can come across like ice at times.

You need companionship during this progression. It will be extremely important for you to find the right kind of intimate relationship, so that you may have the love and harmony you so desperately need. This comes from not always being able to realize your true identity. Balance and harmony are constantly sought, and if not present in most of your life you may become extremely upset. You should avoid the use of alcohol or other drugs to relieve the pain of periods of disharmony in your life, lest they lead to the application of your talents in negative ways.

Scorpio indicates a powerful potential for making money when it is found on the progressed second house of finances, money and worth. You are likely to be resourceful and energetic now in accumulating wealth, and to have the ability to transform ordinarily worthless things into something of real value. Aesthetic quality in your possessions will be of extreme importance to you. PROGRESSED VIRGO ON 12TH HOUSE–Mercury, planet of communications and mental powers rules Virgo, the sign of order and details. When on the house of hidden meanings and the subconscious process in the Progressed Chart, much confusion and worry can result. The subconscious does not respond well to order and detail, and mental Mercury gives the conscious mind emphasis. The Sun moves forward (counter-clockwise) in the Progressed chart from its Natal position at the approximate rate of one degree for each year of life. This means that the Sun will progress into a different sign by, or before, age thirty. Remember that these Natal Sun-sign influences are with us all our lives in the form of birth imprints. In the Progressed chart, the new Sun-sign will influence, enhance, modify, and/or blend with those in the Natal chart–and so with any subsequent progressed Sun-signs. The influences may be most recognizable during the first year for which a Progressed chart has been cast after the Sun has moved into the next sign. Sometimes there can be events or situations which trigger significant life changes (relocation, graduation, job change, marriage, divorce, new home, etc.). Some of these could vividly high-light the influences of the Sun entering into a different sign.

As you read this report, look back over your life and try to remember if there were any events that could have changed your directions or goals when the Sun entered a new sign. You can count back to 00 degrees from the Sun-Sign degree of this chart to find the year, letting each degree count as one year. Allow about three years on either side of that actual date.

Progressed Sun in Gemini with natal Sun in Aries

PROGRESSED SUN IN GEMINI WITH NATAL SUN IN ARIES–Your NATAL Sun in Aries makes you a person who thrives on challenge, and you often feel that you must stand alone and battle your way through life, depending upon nothing but your own strength and courage. You also want the freedom to do things in your own way, and you work very well by yourself. You are often impulsive, and if others are not ready to move, you will take off on your own. You love action and if things get too quiet, you get impatient and will think of something to shake up the status quo. You are spontaneous, impulsive, enthusiastic, and assertive. You believe in the power of positive thinking and positive action, and you sometimes feel that you are invincible. You may often “Walk where angels fear to tread”. You hate being ill and your pride makes it difficult for you to depend upon anyone for anyTHING. Accepting your own human limitations and emotional needs is always difficult for you. Arians need to learn the difference between love and sex in their lifetime. You especially need to learn the lesson of spiritual love, so that you can better relate to others and reach out to them with empathy and consideration.

Progressed Sun in Taurus would have modified the drive and impulsiveness of the NATAL Aries Sun influences. It could have provided the stability that Aries needs to balance that impulsiveness.

The energy of the Sun in Gemini in the PROGRESSED Chart is swift and fleeting, and it needs to be constantly renewed. Boredom can be a great enemy for the Gemini mind. Concentration is usually difficult, and constant activity is needed as an outlet for this untiring flow of energy. It should certainly lift the somewhat stodgy personality of the Taurus Sun influences into a more social personality with a higher level of interests. Indecision plagues the Gemini: you find it difficult to decide between the many possibilities. Your mind moves so quickly from subject to subject that you may fail to absorb anything in depth. There will be short periods when the energy has been exhausted, and you will feel lethargic, although unable to sleep well. Even when sleeping you will feel like you should be doing SOMETHING, or EVERYTHING, and–oh yes, THAT, too! You are very likely to be able to do more than one thing at a time during this life cycle, and it will help if you can keep your hands busy. Progressed Sun in 8th house

PROGRESSED SUN IN 8TH HOUSE–The Sun “passes through” each house one time each year. Its influence “illuminates” and brings into focus the affairs of the house in which it dwells (or is passing through). In the PROGRESSED Chart, we fix that focus on the house occupied by the Sun on your birthday anniversary for the year the chart is cast. When in the eighth house of needs, primal instincts, other’s resources, and death, you can feel its influences at different levels. Materially, in the “needs” area, it can be a time of great concern for finances or resources, especially those held jointly with another individual. It does not indicate conditions to be “good” or “bad”–just that the issue is important. Probably the strongest influences you may feel take the form of strong psychological compulsions leading to behaviors you do not understand. You have a strong desire to experience your feelings and to understand your primal instincts better. Therefore, this is a good time to take stock and implement psychological change and growth. It is quite likely that you will meet someone who will challenge you and contribute greatly to your self-search and possible change. The area of death in Astrology usually indicates the death of some aspect of your life rather than the death of a person, though, occasionally it could refer to an actual death.

The close proximity of the Moon to the earth and its rotation around the earth causes it to pass between the earth and each sign of the Zodiac quite rapidly. It averages about thirteen degrees per day–a little less than three days per sign. Under the day-for-a-year progression system, it will take approximately thirty months, two-and-a-half years, for it to complete each life-cycle of the Moon.

The Moon is the only “planet” that could show up more than once in a Progressed chart in the same sign in which it was found in the Natal chart. Although these natal influences “imprint” our personalities and are with us throughout our lifetime, when the Moon appears in the same sign in the Progressed chart, it can give us an opportunity to modify even those natal imprints to some extent. In the delineations for the Progressed Moon-signs, we will include the Natal Moon-sign interpretations.

In mythology the Moon is always female–as the Sun is always male. In most ancient cults and religions, the Moon represents the female force which reflects the male force of the Sun. There were many ancient Lunar holidays and festivals. In modern religion, the date for the Easter holiday is still determined by the Moon’s orbit.

In astrology, “she” dispenses her influences indiscriminately upon male and female alike, though each sex is likely to respond to the influences in somewhat different ways. The Moon-sign influences in the Progressed chart will affect the emotional side of your personality as it was imprinted by the sign the Moon was in at birth and modified by subsequent progressed Moon-sign influences. The intensity of the changes can range from deeply sub-conscious to dramatically emotional.

Progressed Moon in Sagittarius and natal Moon in Aquarius

PROGRESSED MOON IN SAGITTARIUS WITH NATAL MOON IN AQUARIUS–The NATAL Moon in Aquarius indicates a capacity to sympathize with the needs of humanity, and you probably also have flashes of intuitive knowledge about individuals. You seek freedom for your own emotional expression, and WILL expect freedom to come and go as you please within your domestic situations. You may have unusual family relationships, but your home is likely to be a gathering place for friends and group activities. You are idealistic, with a “One World” concept, and you have a constant concern for the underdog. You may be seen as a free spirit, but your serious side will project its influences effectively when you are sufficiently motivated and inspired. You will stick to a worthwhile cause and will find sources of ingenuity to further its consummation. When the Moon moves into Sagittarius in the PROGRESSED Chart, you may aspire to high goals but ignore life’s realities. You are likely to be optimistic and cheerful. Sagittarius indicates a lofty, idealistic emotional nature. There is nothing shallow about you, and your intellect is sharp and ingenious. Your intuition will be enhanced to the depth of psychic understanding of what other people may be thinking. Intimate relationships could be difficult for you during this progression because you may not be a “touchy-feely” kind of person. You will also require freedom and independence in all your relationships, and your partners may not feel you are committed to them. Progressed Moon in 2nd house

PROGRESSED MOON IN 2ND HOUSE–The Moon will pass through all the houses of the Natal chart approximately every twenty-eight days, making its daily and hourly influences very fleeting. Often, when it moves into the second house of the Progressed Chart however, the aesthetic substance will be accentuated in relation to changes made when the Moon crossed the Ascendant. The emotional focus will be on all matters of finance and personal worth. Your partner’s financial condition can be strongly involved in your material picture. There will be a need to adjust your values concerning appropriate use of finances.

As in the Natal Chart, the blend of the Progressed Sun-Moon influences are extremely significant toward understanding the modification of the personality from that which was indicated by the Natal Chart. Sun in Gemini and Moon in Sagittarius

PROGRESSED: GEMINI SUN AND SAGITTARIUS MOON–These two signs are in opposition. With this blend in the Progressed chart, information, travel, adventure, and imagination all gain focus and are highlighted by the polarity. The nervous, intellectual thrust of Gemini has difficulty realizing the lofty, far-reaching philosophies of Sagittarius. You could be a hard person to pin down. Talking about goals could become a substitute for the realization of them during this life cycle, and nervous chit-chat could fill the gap. Your mind works overtime now and can fly off in many directions unless it is anchored by conscious concentration. With concentration and purpose, tremendous achievements from the academic to the spiritual are possible during this progression.

Mercury in the signs gives clues to the kinds of concerns that occupy your mind and reveals your psychological approach to making decisions and conveying your ideas to others. Mercury influences the kind of communications you have with other people throughout the year: those received as well as those you send. It indicates shifts in mental focus and intellectual attention as they are impacted by the influences of the Progressed sign. It can also indicate travel, such as short trips which don’t upset the daily routine too much. You can usually count on not being bored by Mercury influences, and the daily routine is more likely to be intensified rather than subdued. On another level, Mercury IS the every day routine, indicating everything we are so accustomed to that we don’t even notice it. Mercury takes a little less than thirty years to progress through the thirty degrees of each sign, so we may have a little “stretch” or a little “overlap” of influences when using the day-for-a-year progression system. We have tried to adjust the degree of Mercury in its current Progressed sign to give you some rough idea of how long it will be until it enters the next Progressed sign.

Progressed Mercury in Gemini with natal Mercury in Pisces

PROGRESSED MERCURY IN GEMINI WITH NATAL MERCURY IN PISCES–When Mercury is found in Pisces in the NATAL Chart, you arrive at conclusions on the basis of intuitive perceptions from the unconscious mind rather than through logical reasoning. You are likely to find you have telepathic powers and may be able to communicate with others on a subconscious level. Be aware that your emotions are likely to fluctuate, and could be easily played upon. There will also be periods when you will find decision-making difficult. You are probably secretive with your private thoughts. You are intuitive and are able to sense what others’ thoughts and feelings are, even before they say anything to you. You can be somewhat absent-minded and you can become so immersed in your own thoughts that you overlook things in your immediate, tangible environment. Your imagination and your sympathetic understanding of other people are two of your greatest gifts, but you do need to exercise the intellect and learn to initiate action a little more often.

When Mercury moves into progressed Aries, its affects on the personality will almost be in direct contrast to the Pisces imprints. Direct action, aggressiveness, and impulsiveness will counter the patience and passivity of the Pisces native. Mercury progressed into Taurus would have brought many of the Aries imprints down to earth. It would have added some stability to the Aries drive and some patience to the impulsiveness.

When Mercury is in the sign Gemini in the PROGRESSED Chart, you are likely to be versatile, unbiased, and impersonal in your ability to perceive truth. You are capable of deep scientific thought, and are likely to be well educated. You are probably knowledgeable on many subjects now about which you are able to communicate easily, rapidly, and accurately–in speech or the written word. Compared to the Taurus imprints, this can make you appear to be a complete blabber-mouth. In moderation, the Gemini influences can shake up the laid back Taurean attitude and add spontaneity to the ambition and goal achievement. True to the duality of the sign Gemini, you are able to register two impressions or think two thoughts almost simultaneously during this time. This is almost directly opposite to the steady, down to earth appearance of the thinking under the Taurus influences. This can affect both business and personal relationships however, and you will need to work at consistency in your dealings with others. Relationships can be extremely difficult unless you learn to communicate openly and with strict honesty. You may find it difficult to shut out external thought stimuli, to the point that your nervous system needs periods of absolute quiet and meditation. Progressed Mercury in 8th house

PROGRESSED MERCURY IN 8TH HOUSE–Mercury in the houses deals with the practical affairs that occupy your mind, and shows what areas of activity will be influenced by your thoughts and communications. When found in the eighth house of the Progressed chart, it indicates a time for introspection. The position is conducive to very deep thinking, and may influence conversations and intellectual encounters significantly enough to cause you to change certain points of view and certain ways of thinking. On the other hand, you could have the same effect on someone else. There could be a different kind of communicating energy between you and another person in which words are not necessary. This can be a good period for dealing with financial affairs, especially those properties or businesses held jointly with someone else.

Venus in the signs indicates how you express your emotions in personal relationships. It also influences your attitudes toward money, personal possessions, creature comforts, and social and aesthetic values. Venus is a social planet, usually bringing people together for parties and good times. It is also the planet of LOVE, and its impressions combined with the influences of the signs can tell you quite a bit about your experiences in love and romance. By comparing the two charts, you should be able to get a pretty good idea of how your life has “Progressed” from then to now. In comparing the two charts, you will find that some of the slow-moving outer planets are still in the same sign, and that some of their aspects are the same in both charts. The younger you are, the more of these will be the same, and the older you are the more likely they are to have moved on. Pluto moves the slowest, Neptune next, and then Uranus. This condition indicates that the influences of these aspects and positions are still in your life. When they do move on, it will usually indicate some kind of a turning point.

As in all charts, there may be some interpretations that will seem to contradict others, some will modify others, some will enhance others, and some will duplicate the influences of others. You will probably be most concerned with those paragraphs that appear to describe influences that are directly opposite to the influences of other paragraphs. In some instances these influences can actually cancel each other out. Sometimes the awareness of their total influences can help you combine both into one powerful thrust. Most of the time you can balance the information so that one paragraph will modify the other. Try to come out by giving the positive influences the most power. If there should be some remaining influences that seem especially negative, treat them as cautionary information that can help you prepare for some difficult feelings or circumstances which could be coming up.

The supplemental information on the Chart page and in the Progressed chart is not as significant to understanding the Progressed Chart as that Natal chart information is to interpreting the Personality Profile. You will have only one Natal chart, and its imprints stay with you all your life. You can have many progressed charts cast for as often as you need to up-date your life. The Progressed chart is NOW and also serves as a “bridge” from birth to the future, so the application of the information is not the same.

The planets keep on moving. The Progressed chart cannot tell us what DAY their influences are strongest. For the timing of the aspects of the planets into the future, we recommend an annual Forecast Report (Transit Report). That report will give you the kind of planetary aspects which will be forming in your life on any given day for a year at a time–in advance. It gives the date when an aspect is exact, plus the dates on which the orb of influence begins and ends. Ask your personal Astrologer about how you can obtain these reports.
